Hear me out. I think the route Microsoft is going, will be into producing a service that works with gamepass, and maybe even work on other consoles. We all know Xbox isn't afraid to let some of their games on other consoles, like Minecraft for example. They didn't need to support the game on other consoles, but they did. And I heard Nintendo is working with them to get Xbox life on switch and maybe we'll even see Xbox games playable on switch. And maybe Nintendo will toss a bone to Microsoft and port some games over.
