A fire broke out in San Francisco’s Laurel Village on May 22, 2023.
San Francisco Fire DepartmentA fire started in a Bluemercury cosmetics store in San Francisco’s Laurel Village on Monday, impacting the Ace Hardware and First Republic Bank on either side of the shop, officials said.
The blaze was first reported on the Laurel Heights shopping strip just before noon and was contained by 12:38 p.m., the San Francisco Fire Department said.
Capt. Jonathan Baxter told SFGATE the fire was started by accident in the Bluemercury by “some sort of appliance.”
There were no injuries, according to the fire department. Bluemercury had the most damage, while the bank and hardware store had minimal damage due to smoke, Baxter told SFGATE.
“The quick response and aggressive firefighting helped minimize property damage and prevent injuries,” Baxter said. “There are many local businesses in the area that are still open.”
