Sony has updated the Premium tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service to include 22 new games. The Premium tier of PlayStation Plus gives subscribers access to everything that comes with the PS Plus Essential and Extra tiers, meaning subscribers get access to monthly free games they can keep indefinitely as well as hundreds of games that are available on a rotating basis, ala Netflix or Xbox Game Pass.
PS Plus Extra and Premium are typically updated on the same day, and that holds true for the May 2023 update. PS Plus Extra subscribers get access to 18 more games as of May 16, while four games are coming exclusively to the PS Plus Premium tier. In essence, this means that PlayStation gamers who are signed up for the PS Plus Premium tier can get their hands on 22 total games today.
The 18 games being added as part of the PS Plus Extra tier are Bus Simulator 21, Conan Exiles, Dishonored 2, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Humanity, Lake, Rain World, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Rune Factory 4 Special, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, The Evil Within 2, Thymesia, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The games coming only to the Premium tier are Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, Pursuit Force, and Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow. Remember, PS Plus Premium subscribers get access to all 22 games, whereas PS Plus Extra subscribers only get access to the first 18.

What’s interesting about the PS Plus Extra games for May 2023 is how the lineup has changed since it was initially announced. Shortly after revealing all the new games coming to PS Plus Extra in May 2023, Sony updated the list to remove mention of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. It then updated the list again, adding Story of Seasons back to the lineup but pulling Soundfall.
It’s also worth pointing out that this latest refresh to the PS Plus Extra and Premium lineups also includes a day one game. Humanity is a new day one game available now to PS Plus Extra subscribers, and it’s certainly worth checking out if the early reviews are any indication. The critical reception to Humanity has been mostly positive so far, cementing it as one of 2023’s highest-rated games to date.
